Tanzania plans to increase its wine output

The Agricultural Research Institute of Tanzania (TARI) announced on Sunday that its making plans to expand its wine output in the country by announcing 13 new grape varieties from South Africa.

Head of TARI at Makutopora center in Dodoma region, the top grape producer in Tanzania, Cornel Massawe, said that "The new grape varieties will also improve the country's production of grapes".

According to the official, the lack of varieties in the wine grap has been holding back massive wine output in the country.

He added that the varieties coming from South Africa were a mix of red and white grafted scions and root stocks.
