COVID-19 cases top 15,000 in Afghanistan


(MENAFN) According to a confirmation made by the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, the overall figure of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has jumped to 15,750, after 545 patients tested positive for the virus in the past 24-hour period as of Monday.

The ministerial statement showed that "Within the past 24 hours, 1,168 suspected cases were tested, out of which 545 cases were tested coronavirus positive in 18 provinces."

It further included that the merciless coronavirus pandemic which hit Afghanistan in February has so far claimed a number of 265 lives across the state, with the number rising by 8 new fatalities compared to the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, a group of 100 more patients have survived the deadly virus and been discharged from hospitals, lifting the total record of such cases in the South Asian nation to 1,428.
