531 more COVID-19 cases reported in Afghanistan, national tally at 8,676


(MENAFN) According to a statement released on Thursday by Tawhid Shakohmand, an official for Afghan Ministry of Public Health, the overall figure of the confirmed COVID-29 cases in the country has reached 8,676, after 531 more patients, including 274 in the capital city of Kabul, tested positive for the virus over the course of the previous 24 hours.

Since the first case was detected in the country in February, Afghanistan on Thursday registered its highest daily record of the confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Shakohmand also stated that compared to the previous day, a number of 6 more patients have succumbed to the most infectious virus, lifting the national death toll to 193.

He further included that the combined tally of patients who have survived the infection has risen to 938 with 8 of them reported in the mentioned period.
