COVID-19 infections surge by 349 to 6,402 in Afghanistan


(MENAFN) According to a confirmation made Saturday by Afghan Public Health Ministry, the combined figure of patients who have tested positive for the COVID-19 has jumped to 6,402, as 349 more cases were reported in the past 24-hour period.

Since the first infection with the virus was detected in Afghanistan on February, the most infectious disease has claimed up to now a total of 168 lives across the South Asian nation,including 15 fatalities reported in the preceding 24 hours.

Based on the ministerial statement, the overwhelm majority of Afghanistan'a total cases were reported from the capital city of Kabul, recording 126 cases and 6 fatalities out of the national tallies.

Meanwhile, at least 33 patients have also recovered in the past 24 hours, lifting the tally to 778 so far, the ministry declared.
