Bangladesh adds 969 more COVID-19 cases


(MENAFN) The combined tally of lives that have been claimed due to the pandemic of the most infectious coronavirus disease in Bangladesh has jumped to 250, after 11 new deaths were reported over the last 24 hours as of Tuesday.

"969 new COVID-19 positive cases and 11 deaths including seven men and four women were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh," reporters quoted Nasima Sultana, a senior Health Ministry official, as announcing at a virtual press release in Dhaka.

According to her, the total number of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 16,660, with 250 related deaths.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Bangladesh, the biggest daily surge in the number of cases was registered in a 24-hour period on Monday at 1,034 infections, followed by Tuesday's record of 969 cases.
