Kuwait- Parliament speaker calls for session to examine state financial issues


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 10 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim has called for holding a session on Wednesday to examine a number of crucial financial issues namely the budget.
In a statement on Sunday, the parliament speaker said he had called for holding the parliamentary session to examine the budget, alternative funding, government financial contracts and the state financial status in shadow of the coronavirus crisis.
Speaking after a meeting at the National Assembly bureau, Al-Ghanim said he and other legislators discussed holding the parliamentary session against backdrop of the government decision to impose full lockdown as a measure to curb spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Al-Ghanim has said he has been holding regular contacts with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah regarding the coronavirus issue, hoping government officials will partake in the coming parliamentary session.
He affirmed that the legislators would examine, during the planned session, a host of topics namely bills concerning legal and publicity issues, funding alternatives, government contracts during the coronavirus crisis.
Moreover, there will be presentations by the Audit Bureau and the Ministry of Finance with respect of the crisis impact on the state financial status. (end)
