Two school headmasters suspended over violating precaution
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suspended to headmasters of government schools in Peshawar over violating the government guidelines for precaution to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
According to local sources, students of Government Primary School No 3 Hazar Khawani and Government Primary School Garhi Qamar Din were called for announcement of results of their annual exams.
Someone filed the video of the students' gathering at the government school and shared it on the social media which went viral within no time. It can be clearly seen in the video that a large number of students have gathered in the school and no one is observing precaution of social distancing amid the coronavirus fears.
The KP government has already announced advance summer vacations till May 31 and all the schools are closed until uncertainty about the coronavirus situation is cleared. There were also reports in the media that the students till grade eight have been promoted automatically. However, KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Akbar Ayub Khan clarified that the results of the students who have already given their exams must be declared with precautionary measures, while students from middle and high level will have to appear in the board examinations soon after opening of schools.
After receiving complaints, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Muhammad Ali Asghar immediately issued orders for suspension of both the headmasters found violating the precautionary measures and putting the health of the students in danger. Further action against the headmasters will be taken according to the recommendations of the inquiry committee.
