100,000 unemployed masseuses in Thailand awaiting financial aid

A government official of Thailand said on Sunday that around 100,000 unemployed massueses in the county due to the coronavirus outbreak are still awaiting cash aid.

Director general of the department, Tharet Karatnairawiwong, said that the masseuses which mostly had jobs at massage and spa parlors in the country and are now left without jobs have registered with the Department of Health Service Support in the country.

The authorities have temporarily closed all massage and spa parlors in the country in order to help curb the spread of coronavirus in Thailand.

The official said that out of the affected masseuses, those who might be included in the Social Security coverage are going to receive a maximum of USD229.
