1,318 coronavirus cases, 72 fatalities in Iraq


(MENAFN) As many as 1,318 coronavirus cases were registered in Iraq and up to 72 fatalities were confirmed, according to Iraqi health Ministry on Saturday.


As said in a statement by the ministry, among 39 cases recorded during the past day, 12 were detected in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, 9 in Basra, and 5 in Kirkuk.


The statement added that, until now, out of the total recorded cases, 72 lost their lives and 601 others cured.


The Iraqi authorities have taken many actions to control the spread of coronavirus, including extending a nationwide curfew until April 19.
