Insurers in China keep growth during coronavirus outrbeak

The leady insurance regulator in China said that the insurance industry in the country has enjoyed a stable expansion in the starting two months of the current year in spite of the negative economic effects of the outbreak of coronavirus.

Data released by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission showed showed that the original premium income of the secotr stood at a total of USD165.9 billion in the period, representing an increase of a yearly 1.1 percent.

The sector saw its total assets reach USD3 trillion by the end of February, rising 3.6 percent compared to the end of the earlier year.

According to the data, the insurer companies in China have offered a total of USD26.68 billion in payouts in the period, representing a decline of 15.5 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.
