(MENAFN) Local media quoted a Lao spokesman as saying at a press release conducted in capital Vientiane as of Saturday afternoon that the total number of the confirmed coronavirus cases has jumped to eight after two more patients tested positive for the virus earlier in the day.
One of the newly-diagnosed cases was reported for a woman at her 50 as she had contacted with her already-confirmed infected husband whose case has been declared as of Thursday in northern Lao hub of Luang Prabang, based on the declaration of Lao Deputy Health Minister Phouthone Moungpak at a press breifing.
The other case was recorded after a teenager male at his 18 had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus as he had a close contact with the third previously confirmed case announced on Wednesday.
Three among the total 8 cases are receiving treatment in a local hospital in Luang Prabang province, while the remaining five cases are treated in the designated hospital, the Mittaphab Hospital (150 Hospital), in Vientiane capital.
