São Paulo – The quarantine designed to flatten the new coronavirus contagion curve is causing Brazilians to do more shopping online. So says a study from ecommerce market intelligence firm Compre & Confie and the Brazilian E-Commerce Association (ABComm), comparing February/March shopping in 2019 and 2020.
Supermarket shopping was up 80% year-on-year, while sales of health products soared by 111%, and beauty and toiletry item sales climbed 83%.
Conversely, sales plummeted when it comes to photo and video cameras and drones, down 62%, video games, down 37%, electronics, down 29%, and automobiles, down 20%.
According to ABComm, the industry is already concerned over logistics and measures that might restrict delivery in cities.
