Saudi Arabia's inflation reaches 1.2 percent month-on-month


(MENAFN) Data by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed that, in February 2020, Saudi Arabia's inflation reached 1.2 percent monthly.


In comparison with 97.5 points the year before, the consumer price index for February grew to 98.7 points according to the base year 2018; GASTAT has adopted 2018 as the new base year starting from February 2020.


The increase was mostly caused by transport segment, registering a yearly rise of 3.7 percent, over higher vehicle prices and personal transport equipment operations.


Food and beverages witnessed 3.4 percent yearly climb over higher food prices, affected by the rise in meat and poultry prices.
