Qatar- Earth faces no asteroid threat
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Head of Qatar Astronomical Center Sheikh Salman bin Jabor al-Thani stressed Saturday that there will be no asteroid hitting earth.
The asteroid has been officially called 52768 (1998 OR2) and is estimated to measure 4.1km across, according to NASA. He said that it will not hit the earth and called on the public to disregard such news items. He noted that the chances of the asteroid hitting the earth are one in 50,000. He added that the closest the asteroid will be to the earth will be around 6.29mn km.
