DARE1 Cables Land in Mogadishu and Bossaso, Somalia

Somalilandsun : According to Djibouti Telecom, DARE1 cables have landed in Mogadishu and Bossaso (the two biggest coastal cities in Somalia).

The landing of the DARE1 cables in these two important cities demonstrates great progress on DARE1 network which is on schedule to be fully operational by June 2020. The DARE1 consortium is currently composed of Djibouti Telecom, Somtel and Telkom Kenya.

When completed, the DARE1 network will land across 3 countries and 4 cities, Djibouti (Djibouti), Bosaso (Somalia), Mogadishu (Somalia) and Mombasa (Kenya), covering approximately 5,000km and will have a capacity per wavelength of 100Gbps.

The DARE1 cable system is designed with a three-fibre-pair trunk. The Bosaso branch of the DARE1 cable is of 108 km and two fiber pairs.

The DARE1 consortium is currently composed of Djibouti Telecom, Somtel Somtel and Telkom Kenya.

It appears that the steam exibited early on by Somaliland authorities have dissipiated completely despite having gone to the extend of Manhandling ships laying the submarine cable close to its waters
