(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- The Republic of Senegal honored Wednesday Director General of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) Lieut. Gen. Khaled Al-Mekrad with the National Order of Lion during a ceremony held in Kuwait.
A statement by KFSD said that Senegalese Ambassador to Kuwait Abdou Lahad Mbacke, on behalf of President Macky Sall, awarded Al-Mekrad with the order.
Al-Mekrad thanked Senegal for this honor, which reflected the strong Kuwaiti-Senegalese ties.
He added that the awarded was given based on Kuwait's assistance to the fire service and civil defense authorities in the African nation.
Kuwait's support came a result of its status as an international center for humanitarian work, he affirmed, adding that KFSD will continue assistance to Senegal.
Ambassador Mbacke, in a speech during the honoring ceremony, commended the KFSD for its support, which contributed to the safety and security of the Senegalese people especially during natural disasters and catastrophic incidents.
