More than 200 students of the Phoenix International School in Doha enjoyed Indonesia's traditional cuisine served in the Indonesian Booth at the International Day Event, recently.  Also their teachers and parents had the opportunity to take selfie in front of the booth and taste Indonesian coffee made by Indonesian baristas who are working in Qatar.
The Indonesia participation in the annual event was supported by the Embassy of Indonesia in Doha, working together with the five families whose kids are studying at the school.
Under the theme 'Walk around the world', other countries like Qatar as the host country, the Philippines, India, Mexico, Sudan, Italy, France, Russia, Syria, Palestine and Lebanon and a lot other more also participated. Uniquely, the participants could find replicas of the Philippines traditional vehicle tuk tuk, England phone booth and the Queen's guard. Adding it to be more attractive, there is also a Turkish ice cream stand.
The Indonesian stand was decorated by ornament, cultural displays and served Indonesia's traditional cuisines which students were making a long queue just to taste its delicious flavour.
At the end of the event, Indonesia had the first chance to perform its traditional dance, Si Patokaan from the North Sulawesi Province in the eastern part of Indonesia brought by Puspa Qinarya, an Indonesia dance community in Qatar. The dance continued by the Indonesian ladies Angklung community who perform angklung, the name of traditional musical instrument made of bamboo from West Java Province in the western part of Indonesia.
The spouse of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Qatar, Andi Una Sidehabi who had the opportunity to attend the event, appreciated Indonesia's participation. 'I didn't expect to witness that this time, the Indonesia stand is amazing. It has made us all proud as Indonesians who live in Qatar, she said.
Sidehabi also conveyed her gratitude to the Phoenix Private School for the excellent arrangement and hopes that Indonesia will also have the chance to participate in the future.
