Pakistan- First ever digital vegetable market opened in Mardan


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) MARDAN: The first ever digital vegetable market has been opened in Mardan from where the customers can buy vegetables and fruits with a single phone call while sitting at their homes.

The digital vegetable market was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mardan Muhammad Abid Khan at Durshal Centre. The deputy commissioner said on the occasion that the market is a public-private venture where food items will be available according to official price list. He said the step has been taken to reduce overcrowding in other fruit and vegetable markets and bazaars in the district and to control inflation.

Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Malik Shaukat, who is also chairman of the district development advisory committee, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nek Muhammad, Assistant Commissioners Ms Gul Bano and Ms Sobia Zia and representatives of trade union were also present on the occasion of the inauguration of digital vegetable market.

The home delivery service will be carried out by a private organisation 'Delivery Kaka'. Abbas Paracha, an official of Delivery Kaka mobile application and in-charge of digital vegetable market, said the service has been initiated in four union councils of Mardan in first phase which include Mohabatabad, Muslimabad, Baghdada and Bagh Aram. He said the service will be extended to all the union councils of Mardan soon.

The digital mandi in-charge said Kaka Application has opened its outlet where fresh fruits and vegetables will be brought from the main market early in the morning after auction and then dispatched to various homes on receiving orders on phone calls. He said there will be no charges for home delivery and all the items will be available according to official price list.

The Mardan administration said it is first of its kind digital market in the district. Orders can be booked through mobile app with address: deliverykaka.pk and phone/WhatsApp number: 0314-7400004. The app can be downloaded from Google play. Customers can order vegetables, fruits and grocery items on the given phone number. This service will be particularly helpful for women and those families where no one is always available to go to market to buy essential food and other items.
