8 killed in clashes in Ethiopia's Benishangul-Gumuz


(MENAFN) At least eight people were murdered after communal clashes erupted in western Ethiopia's Benishangul-Gumuz regional state, local authorities emphasized on Thursday.

A press statement from the regional state communications office affirmed that the communal clashes earlier in January in Wembera locality, Metekel zone of the region, resulted in the murder of eight people.

The communal clashes also left as many as 385 people displaced and also resulted in destructions of property.

The statement added that at least 13 people suspected of participation in the communal clashes have been rounded up pending completion of an investigation into the fatal aggression.
