(MENAFN) On Saturday, as many as three demonstrators were murdered and over 15 more were injured as a result of clashes erupted with the security forces in Baghdad and Iraq's southern province of Dhi Qar, security sources affirmed.
A provincial security source informed Xinhua in condition of secrecy that the clashes broke out after riot police attempted to reopen al-Fuhoud in the provincial capital city of Nasriyah, resulting in the murder of three demonstrators and injuries to seven more.
It is worth mentioning that, in Baghdad, as many as eight demonstrators were injured as a result of clashes with riot police at the perimeter of al-Tahrir Square, the epicenter of Iraq's anti-government demonstrations since early in October, an Interior Ministry official anonymously informed Xinhua.
The official affirmed that there were no reports related to the deaths in Baghdad demonstrations until now.
