Greek tanker kidnapped crew set free in Cameroon

The Greek shipping Ministry said that the crew members of the Greek tanker "Happy Lady" who were kidnapped by pirates in an attack near Cameroon coast on New Year's Eve were set free on Wednesday.

The pirates launched an attack over the tanker as it was anchored two miles away from Limboh port in Cameroon and a Greek mechanic was wounded in the attack.

The tanker had 28 crew members on board. The kidnapped members were five Greek nationals, a Ukrainian, and two from the Philippines.

The Greek Shipping and Island Policy Minister Ioannis Plakiotakis said in a press release that "The coordinated efforts bore fruit".
