Gen. Hafter agrees to ceasefire -- German FM
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BERLIN, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas announced on Thursday that commander of Libya National Army General Khalifa Haftar will commit to a ceasefire.
Maas was quoted by Germany's news agency (DPA) as saying that Hafter agreed on the ceasefire, although he had not signed an agreement with the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) in Moscow earlier this week.
The Federal Foreign Office stated earlier today that Maas was heading to Benghazi in an unannounced visit, to discuss with General Haftar the ceasefire and his participation in the Berlin conference on Libya next Sunday.
The meeting will be attended by the US, Russia, China, Turkey, the UAE, Egypt, France, UK, Italy, Algeria and UN. (pickup previous)
