Tunisia welcomed over 9 million tourists in 2019

Tunis – Over 9 million tourists have visited Tunisia until December 20, 2019, the country's Tourism and Handicrafts minister René Trabelsi said. The sector's revenue exceeded DT 5,350 million (USD 1.88 billion), Tunis Afrique Presse ( TAP ) reported.

Trabelsi said the country's security situation improved
Total visitors will reach 9.5 million tourists by the 31st in accordance with the 9-million-tourist goal set for 2019. This represents an increase of about 1 million tourists compared to 2018 .
Trabelsi said that this figure was achieved thanks to the improvement of the country's security situation and the efforts of the ministry, in coordination with professionals, journalists and civil society activists.
The country saw an increase in French, British, Italian, Russian, Algerian and Chinese tourists.
The sector's earnings grew up by 36.6% from a year ago and are expected to reach DT 5.7 million (USD 2 billion) late this year.
