Qatar- Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani elected Al Duhail SC President

H E sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (pictured) was elected President of Al Duhail SC during the club's General Assembly meeting yesterday.

'I am honoured to accept this position. I ask God to grant me success and to my brothers the members of the board of directors .. We look forward to providing everything that amounts to the name of the club and its members and fans, Sheikh Khalifa said in a Tweet yesterday.

H E Sheikh Khalifa thanked the outgoing President for his contribution towards the club on its way to become one of the biggest both locally and Asia. He also said that the management will double their efforts to continue to achieve more success.

Club's vice-President, Khalifa Khamis Al Sulaiti Al Sulaiti congratulated the new President and wished all the success for his future at the club.

Al Duhail SC, founded in 2009 under the name of Lekhwiya Sports Club, is nicknamed The Red Knights and have become a prominent side in Qatar and Asian football.

They are strong contenders in all tournaments and have won the Qatar Stars League title six times, including in their debut season in 2010-11.
