Qatari innovator wins silver prize at prestigious international fair in Seoul


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: A path-breaking innovation from Qatar has won the second prize at the prestigious Seoul International Innovation Fair 2019 (SIIF 2019) held in the South Korean capital from November 27 to 30.

Qatari entrepreneur and inventor Mohammed Hassan Al Jefairi won the second prize for his innovation Magnifier Hexacopter (Burning Drone), which can be used to write or draw images on sand by burning the sand with focused sunlight. It could also be used by the civil defence to burn a specific tree in the wood to stop fire using wind blow off the CO2. 

He was chosen for the second place from 720 international inventions presented at the fair.

'Every time I receive an achievement, I feel like I want to do more for Qatar. Al Jefairi told The Peninsula after winning the prize.

As the largest annual invention fair in Asia, SIIF 2019 is organised to market and promote inventions. At SIIF 2019 inventors and researchers showcase new ideas and products to manufacturers, investors, distributors, licensing firms and the general public.

Kuwaiti engineer Sara Aboerjaib won the gold medal for the device ‘Near-infrared Optical imaging'.

Al Jefairi's invention is designed to focus sunlight on burning a specific location by focusing the sunlight on a specific point by using a 1-meter magnifier on a drone.

'Magnifier Hexacopter uses sunlight focus point to burn specific locations which consist of automatic flight drone height detection, AI sunlight detector, automated continuous burning root, magnifier with a rotation technique, laser point object detector for safety burning, and Shutter safety element, a statement from Al Jefairi said.

Al Jefairi had last yearwon the World Summit Award in the Inclusion & Empowerment category for Deaf Pedia , a platform that supports deaf by offering sign language open-source platform to share and improve sign language.

He is also the author of over 68 books on leadership and technology which are now available to download for free in multiple languages.
