11 percent drop in Russia trade surplus

The Russian Federal Customs Service said on Monday that the trade surplus in Russia dropped 11 percent since the previous year to set at USD133.3 billion in the first 3 quarters of the year.

The customs said in a statement that "The trade balance was positive at 133.3 billion U.S. dollars, which is 16.4 billion U.S. dollars less than in January-September 2018".

Turnover of trade stood at USD489.4 billion in the period, dropping 2.9 percent since the previous year.

Exports reached USD311.4 billion, a decline of 4.8 percent. Fuel and energy products made up 63.4 percent of the exports, a volume rise of 3.0 percent and a 6.6 drop in value.
