Somaliland: President Muse Bihi Receives EU Delegation

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, today received
a delegation from the European Union led by Ambassador Nicolas Belanger
Martinez.

The EU envoy was also accompanied by the Swedish Ambassador accredited to
the region, Ambassador Steffan Tillander.

The delegation arrived to discuss areas of mutual interest, including the
on-going preparations for the oft-delayed parliamentary and local council
elections.

The two parties also discussed the progress of the many EU funded projects
currently underway in Somaliland, including the new water system in the
capital, Hargeisa, as well as, the health, education, agricultural,
environmental and social programmes supported by the EU in all of
Somaliland's cities, towns and villages.

The delegation are also expected to meet with local parliamentarians,
politicians, business leaders and social activist during their visits to
Somaliland.
