Myanmar: 191 human smuggling cases across Myanmar


(MENAFN) According to figures released by the Anti-Trafficking Police Force on Wednesday, Myanmar police have uncovered 191 human smuggling cases across the country in the first nine months of this year.


A total of 556 smugglers were charged From January to September this year in association with the cases and 279 people were victimized.


25 people as well as seven kids were victimized while 54 smugglers were charged in association with 15 human trafficking cases in September only.

Money or property received during trafficking will be taken away by the government; under Myanmar's 2005 Anti-Trafficking in peoples Law, people who smuggle women and children were punished to at least 10 years or up to lifetime sentence or fine.
