Blast at chemical plant in Texas


(MENAFN) A blast and fire exploded on Saturday at a chemical plant in southeast Texas, the United States, and no one was wounded in the incident.


The explosion and fire went off in the carbon monoxide unit at its plant in the Clear Lake area of Pasadena; about 40 km southeast of downtown Houston, and no people were harmed through the blast and subsequent fire, as said by The Celanese Corporation.


The company said in a statement that, "At this time, the fire has been stopped; the incident is under control, and cleanup is underway,"
In the meantime, the local emergency management office posted message on Facebook, saying "there is no need for a shelter in place" in the neighboring city of La Porte.


The information on its website showed that with its headquarters in Dallas, Texas, Celanese Corporation provides materials that are critical to the global chemicals and paints and coatings industries from the global production network of its Acetyl Chain
The reason of the incident is being investigated.
