Qatar- Al Arabi rout Umm Salal to go top

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Al Arabi brushed aside a struggling Umm Salal 5-1 as the QNB Stars League resumed after a fortnight's break. At the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium Friday, Arabi ran riot as they dominated the show to go top of the standings with seven points, while Al Sadd, who have played just two, are on six. Umm Salal, meanwhile, are still looking for their first win, as they have one point after a draw and two losses.
It was Umm Salal who opened the scoring as striker Yannick Sagbo found the net in 25th minute, latching on to a ball from Murad Naji. But it was all Arabi thereafter as Mohamed Salah Elneel, Aron Gunnarsson, Pierre Michelle Lassogga and Hamdi Harbaoui scored for them, while their fifth one was an own goal from Adil Rhaili.
Arabi had many chances to equalise but they had to wait till the 41st minute to draw level through Elneel. Midfielder Gunnarsson started the move before Abdurisag found space on the right to deliver a low cross to Elneel, who found the net with a diving header. Five minutes later they took the lead as Gunnarsson headed home Marc Muniesa's corner from the right. After the break, Arabi scored twice in the gap of 10 minutes to seal the game. Harbaoui scored the third in the 49th with a powerful right-footer while Lassogga made it 4-1.
Ten minutes later it was 5-1 when Musab Keder's cross was nudged into his own net by Umm Salal defender Rhaili.

Al Ahli stun Al Khor with comeback win

Meanwhile, Al Ahli waged a spirited battle to script a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Al Khor at the Al Janoub Stadium. Nabil El Zahr (58th-minute penalty), Abel Mathias (66th) and Hernan Gonzalez (90th-min penalty) scored for Al Ahli. For Al Khor, Ibrahim Amada (32nd minute) and Ahmed Hammoudan (76th) were the scorers.
Al Ahli now have six points with their second victory, while Al Khor stood on four points with one victory, one draw and a defeat.
Al Ahli had more of the ball in the first half, but it was Al Khor who took the lead through Amada whose long-ranger from almost 35 yards beat rival goalkeeper Ivanildo Rodrigues hands down.
Al Khor had a goal ruled out through VAR when Wagner was caught offside in the 13th minute.
Al Ahli's best chance in the first session was when Hernan shot over off a cross from Mohamed Diame.
Al Ahli, who attacked more after the break, equalised through captain Nabil when Majed Mohammed was fouled and referee Nayef al-Kadiri pointed to the spot. Al Ahli went 2-1 up when Abel capitalised on a faulty clearance by Ivanildo.
It was Al Khor's turn to equalise as Hammoudan latched on to a through pass from Abdulla Nasser off a counter-attack. When the match was heading towards a draw came Al Ahli's winning goal, with Hernan on target from the spot.
