Sri Lanka- Wheat flour companies agree to scrap price hike
(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Wheat flour companies have agreed to scrap the recent price hike, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that wheat flour companies have agreed to sell wheat flour at the previous price with immediate effect.
The agreement had been reached following talks between the Ministry of Agriculture and wheat flour companies.
Last week Prima Ceylon announced an increase in the price of wheat flour.
Prima said that the price of wheat flour had been increased by Rs. 5.50 per kilo.
As a result, the Bakery Owners Association said that the price of a loaf of bread had also been increased.
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) later said that legal action will be taken on Prima Ceylon for increasing the price of wheat flour without the approval of the (CAA).
