Oman- 'Citizens can start labour agencies across GCC'

The GCC Ministers of Labour and Social Affairs and Development approved at their fifth meeting on Wednesday at the GCC Advisory Board of the Supreme Council in Muscat a number of decisions related to allowing the GCC citizens to start private manpower recruitment activities in any GCC state.

H E sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah al Bakri, Minister of Manpower and chairman of the current session, highlighted in his speech the sincere efforts made by Kuwait during its chairmanship of the previous session, which had a good impact in the development of the Gulf labour market system.

The meeting approved the report of the implementation of the strategic initiatives of the Labour Ministers Committee and decisions related to coordination on Arab and international conferences and international cooperation, and the participation of the GCC in Expo Dubai 2020.

The ministers also approved a number of decisions related to the items on the agenda of this meeting, namely the decision of the Supreme Council on the guiding general system for the empowerment of persons with disabilities in the GCC States and the indicative public order, and the citizens of these countries and residents in any member state shall benefit from the social services provided by the state to its citizens.

The meeting also approved the council's strategy in the field of social development, and the Ministerial Council's decision on the proposal of Bahrain to form a coordinating body for joint charitable work, the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, and the establishment of a database on laws and legislations related to social affairs in the GCC States.

The meeting also discussed the draft code of ethics for professionals in the field of family counselling in the GCC countries, the disability report in these countries, and the budget and administrative and financial matters of the Executive Office.
