Sri Lanka- Police insist ban on NTJ, JMI, Willayath As Seylani to remain
(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The Police today insisted that the ban on the National Thowheed Jamath, Jamathei Millathu Ibrahim, and Willayath As Seylani will remain despite the lifting of the emergency regulations.
Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said that the three groups were banned following the Easter Sunday attacks.
He said that the three groups were banned under the regulations of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
The Police spokesman also denied reports that suspects arrested following the Easter Sunday attacks will be set free as a result of the lifting of the emergency regulations.
He said that the suspects were also arrested under the regulations of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and so they will not be freed.
