(MENAFN) Lebanon is ready by the end of this year to launch the first ever drilling works in Block 4 in Lebanese territorial waters.

Tungsten Explorer, a drilling ship that U.S. Vantage Drilling Company manages, will be responsible for drilling the well.

Lebanese Energy and Water Minister Nada Boustani confirmed that Vantage "will visit Lebanon next week to start its preparations."

According to the minister, the well will be drilled over a 55-day period and is expected to commence in November or December 2019.

Boustani further added: "we are witnessing great interest from companies such as Malaysia's Petronas and Russia's Lukoil and Gazprom."
