Lebanese Cabinet resumes meetings after month of delay


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Aug 10 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Cabinet on Saturday resumed its meetings after a month-long suspension due to a security incident in Aley area of Mount Lebanon in June, which led to a political split in the country.
"An unfortunate incident that took place some time ago in the Aley region had a major impact on the country," Lebanese Information Minister Jamal Al-Jarrah quoted President Michel Aoun as saying.
The repercussions of the incident were dealt with in accordance with political, judicial and security aspects, the Lebanese President added.
Yesterday, a reconcilitaory meeting was held between several political rivals at the presidential palace in a bid to resolve the split that followed the June 30 incident. (end)
