Afghanistan- Khost fire causes losses to shopkeepers
(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): At least 30 shops were gutted by a blaze in southeastern Khost province on Thursday, an official said.
Syed Rauf, the fire-brigade head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the fire erupted inside a carpenter shop in the provincial capital at around 3:00am.
He said there had been no casualties as the fire was extinguished by 9:00am.
Rauf added an investigation was underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
Noormat Khan, a resident, said his shop had been completely torched and destroyed.
He added shopkeepers had suffered huge financial losses as their shops contained goods worth 11, 00,000 afghanis.
