Oman- Rainy spell continues in many wilayats

Wet spell continued in many wilayats on Monday after heavy downpour was witnessed in several governorates on Sunday.

Light to moderate rains were recorded in Ibri, Mahdah, Dhank and Wadi Jizi in Buraimi on Monday. While on Sunday in North and South Batinah, moderate to heavy rains were witnessed in the wilayats of Sohar, Khabourah and Rustaq.

Dhahirah as well received moderate to heavy rainfall in the wilayats of Ibri and Yanqul, which led to overflow of wadis. In Buraimi, mild rains were witnessed in Wadi Jizi, while in North Sharqiyah light rain fell on the wilayats of Mudhaibi and Ibra. In Dakhliyah governorate, Nizwa, Izki, Bahla and Samail experienced good amount of rains on Monday.

In its forecast for Tuesday, the Met office said that partly cloudy skies will prevail along the coastal areas of Dhofar governorate and adjoining mountains with chances of intermittent drizzle.

'While clear to partly cloudy skies are expected over most of the sultanate with chances of isolated rain and occasional thunderstorms associated with downdraft wind over the Al Hajar mountains and the adjoining wilayats towards afternoon,' it said.

Chance of dust rising winds over deserts and open areas of Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates are also expected on Tuesday, the Met office added.
