Iran frees Algerian tanker
(MENAFN) Iran on Saturday released an oil tanker owned by the company, after forcing it into Iranian territorial waters on Friday, as said by Algeria's oil and gas company Sonatrach.
Iranian authorities freed the tanker MASDAR, after a crisis-cell was set up linking Algerian energy and foreign affairs ministries, as said by the company in a statement on Saturday.
The statement also said that the tanker got to its final purpose namely Tanura coasts in Saudi Arabia.
Sonatrach said that, on Friday, July 19, 2019, at 19:30 Algerian time, and as crossing the Strait of Hormuz, the tanker MESDAR was forced by the Iranian navy forces to head to their territorial waters.
No casualties have been reported up to now according to the statement.
