Pakistan Festival to celebrate Renaissance Day of Oman

Twenty-one legendary artistes from Pakistan will participate in the first-ever Pakistan Festival to be held in the city later this month, celebrating the Renaissance Day of Oman. 

Slated to be held on July 26, from 6pm onwards at the auditorium of Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in Muscat, the family-oriented mega festival will witness some cultural discussions, talks, interviews, a book launch, instrumental music and Sufi songs.

This was announced at a press meet held in Tulip Inn Downtown Muscat on Wednesday. Qamar Riaz, festival coordinator, said, 'It is the first time ever that the Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat along with the Pakistani community has taken an initiative to celebrate the Renaissance Day of Oman through Pakistan Festival. It will be held in association with Alpha Events Oman, a recognised event organisation firm of Abu Asaad al Amri Trading & Contracting. Some 21 legendary artistes will participate in this event. H E Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, is the brains behind this event.'

Oman is home to nearly 273,000 Pakistanis, said Amar Hamza, advisor to the Pakistani envoy in Oman, adding that five of them have been decorated with civil awards of Pakistan. Some of the prominent names to look out for in this festival include Hamid Ali Khan, an exponent of ghazal and classical singing; Syed Talat Hussain, a Pakistani journalist, foreign policy commentator and a television personality; Ata ul Haq Qasmi, a Pakistani Urdu-language newspaper columnist, playwright and poet; Dr Inamul Haq Javed, educationist, writer and poet, and Dr Sughra Sadaf, poet, writer, researcher, columnist of Daily Jang, and director, Punjab Institute of Language, Art & Culture, amongst others.

'During the family-oriented mega festival, there will be various sessions in which legendary Pakistani intellectuals and artistes will pay tribute to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for his 49 years of rule in the sultanate and throw light on the strength of Pakistan-Oman relations,' Hamza said.
