Jordan- AIPU chief condemns terror attacks in Libya, Somalia
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 15 (Petra) -- The Head of the Arab Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Atef Tarawneh, condemned the two terrorist attacks in Libya and Somalia.
In a statement on Monday, Tarawneh denounced the cowardly terrorist attack in Libya which targeted a cemetery in Benghazi, and affirmed rejection of all forms of terrorism.
He voiced support for Libya's plans to "uproot terrorism," and eradicate extremist ideologies which fuel hatred, violence, and bloodshed.
On behalf of the AIPU, Tarawneh also condemned the terrorist attack which targeted a hotel in Kismayo, a port city in the southern Lower Juba province of Somalia, resulting in the death of a number of people, and the injury of others.
Tarawneh called on the international community, Arab and International parliaments, and parliamentary unions to shoulder their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, and provide support to enable Libya to create strong institutions capable of defeating terrorists, and support Somali security apparatuses and develop them so that they can protect the Somali people.
