Sri Lanka- Justice Minister accuses BASL of towing political line
(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Justice Minister Thalatha Atukorale today accused the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) of towing a political line.
She said that BASL President Kalinga Indatissa had mad false statements at a recent meeting with Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Indatissa had reportedly told Rajapaksa that the Justice Ministry had cleared the establishment of a branch of the US Bar Association in Sri Lanka.
Atukorale said that there was no truth those claims and that the BASL had never even spoken to her about it.
She said that by making false statements the BASL was losing faith among the general public.
