(MENAFN) Forty-eight people lost their lives to cholera in Cameroon's North and Far North regions, with 775 other people afraid for their lives as they were diagnosed with the disease.
Official of the Ministry of Public Health Arabo Saidou confirmed the tragic deaths which increased from two in April.
Saidou stated: "the outbreak of the disease is caused by failure to abide with hygienic regulations. Access to drinking water is very difficult in this semi-arid part of the country and people tend to drink just anything."
Cameroon's Minster of Public Health, Manaouda Malachie also stressed: "the public should take necessary measures to improve hygiene in their homes in order to help the government's efforts to control the disease."
