Oman- Embassy programme highlights investment prospects in Nepal

The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat organised a luncheon programme on the theme 'Investment Prospects in Nepal' on Monday at the W Muscat hotel.

The programme commenced with the national anthems of the Sultanate of Oman and Nepal and lighting the traditional oil lamp jointly by H E Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal and the Guest of Honour H E Eng Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Hilal Marhoon al Mamari, head of West Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr Yahya Abdulla al Fannah, head of Economy Sector, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Abdul Adhaim al Bahraini, CEO of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the programme, a video was played with highlights of the speeches of the distinguished speakers including the Prime Minister of Nepal at Nepal Investment Summit, 2019 held on March 29 and 30 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Delivering her speech, H E Sarmila elucidated the importance of investment in Nepal to achieve the national motto of 'Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali'.

H E Sarmila touched on various sectors including agriculture, energy, infrastructure, education, industrial infrastructure, urban infrastructure and transport infrastructure. Related videos were also played during the speech on each sector.

During the speech, she explained about various legal, institutional and policy reforms undertaken by the Government of Nepal to make an investment friendly environment. H E Sarmila urged for the cooperation from all over the world for socio-economic prosperity and progress of Nepal.

Around 55 people attended the programme including ambassadors of different countries and representatives from Ithraa and the State General Reserve Fund.
