Thailand targets turning into ASEAN power hub
(MENAFN) Thailand has set a target to turn into a power hub within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), confirmed permanent secretary of the Thai Energy Ministry Kulis Sombatsiri.
A plan was set by Thailand, the permanent secretary revealed, to renovate its power transmission lines in order to transform into an electricity hub.
The country is looking for sourcing hydropower from Laos and selling it to Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar.
"In order to provide affordable electricity to people in ASEAN, we need to install modern transmission lines," the official stressed.
Kulis added: "other alternatives include providing other sources of renewable energy including solar, wind and biomass power."
