Jordan- ACC seeks stronger economic ties with Panama
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, June 19 (Petra) -Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Khalil Al-Hajj Tawfiq and his deputy Nabil Khatib affirmed the importance of building bridges of economic cooperation between Jordan and the Republic of Panama and focusing on "promising" sectors with added value.
During their meeting on Wednesday at the ACC's headquarters with Panama's Ambassador here, Tomas Guardia, they said there are many opportunities for bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, especially in the logistics and shipping sector.
They stressed the necessity of exchanging information onbusiness opportunities and sectors interested in jointcooperation as "a first step to enhance the economic and trade relations between the two countries," stressing the ACC's keenness to strengthen its relations with various private sector institutions around the world.
They requested Embassy of Panama to provide the ACCwith the available business opportunities and Panamanian companies wishing to cooperate with their Jordanian counterparts in various sectors, so the ACC's members get aware of.
For his part, Guardia said the Embassy will provide the ACC with leaflets on business and investment opportunities in his country, adding Panama is currently developing its logistics and maritime shipping network, because it owns the Panamanian Canal.
The opening of his country's embassy in Jordan is evidence of its interest in strengthening economic and trade relations with the Kingdom, he noted, adding the trade volume exchange between the two countries is "modest," which requires work on opening new horizons of bilateral cooperation in this regard.
Panama depends heavily on the maritime services and shipping sector, he said, stressing the need to exchange experiences between the Kingdom and Panama in the field of shipping and logistics.
