Kuwait flag carrier to launch direct flights to New York
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, June 16 (KUNA) -- National carrier Kuwait Airways will begin flying directly to New York as soon as aviation safety measures are complete, the airline said on Sunday.
Roundtrip flights to New York out of Kuwait International Airport's newly-built Terminal 4 (T4) is part of plans to propel the Kuwaiti flag carrier to prominence in the aviation industry, Kuwait Airways CEO Kamal Al-Awadhi said in a statement.
He cited recent talks a Kuwaiti delegation held with the US Department of Transportation to ensure that safety precautions are in place, paving the way for the direct flights to New York.
Kuwait International Airport has seen a spike of up to 10 percent in passenger traffic with the completion of the sprawling terminal. (end)
