Germany to extend ban on deportation of Syrian refugees until end of 2019
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BERLIN, June 7 (KUNA) -- German interior ministers of 16 German states have agreed to extend the ban on the deportation of Syrian refugees to their country until the end of this year.
According to a paper issued by interior ministers of 16 German states Thursday evening, the ban on the deportation of Syrian refugees living on German soil will be extended until December 31 unless the German Foreign Ministry issues a new assessment of the security situation in Syria.
Despite that, German interior ministers have also different points of view on deporting of what the German authorities call "dangerous" or involved in supporting President Bashar Al-Assad's regime, as six states, including the Bavarian state, demand that they be excluded from the decision to extend the ban.
These states propose adding an item in the Interior Ministers' Agreement that provides for the exclusion of anyone who recognizes the Syrian regime or travels to Syria during the ban period of the deportation law.(end).
