Coalition forces airlift crewmember of Iranian vessel
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, June 4 (KUNA) -- The Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen said its rescuers evacuated a crewmember of the Iranian-flagged cargo ship Saviz to a military hospital in Jazan, southwest Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.
The coalition's Jeddah-based search and rescue center received a mayday from the vessel, located to south of the Red Sea, some 95 nautical miles off Hudaydah seaport, west Yemen, that one of its crewmembers suffered from a serious injury.
The Joint Command of the Coalition, responded promptly to the call and sent an air ambulance to airlift the man, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted spokesman of the command Col. Turki Al-Maliki as saying.
The medical team offered first aid to the man, an Iranian national, but realized soon that his injury is a life-threatening one that requires evacuation to the hospital, noted.
Iran's permanent epresentative to the UN Office in Geneva offered a formal request for help to the Saudi diplomatic mission there, Col. Al-Maliki said, adding that the wise leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Joint Command of the Coalition approved the measure on humanitarian grounds. (end)
