Lebanese FM believes Syrian refugees can go back

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MADRID, May 31 (KUNA) -- The visiting Lebanese Foreign Minister Jibran Bassil said on Friday that troubles on 80 percent of Syria's territories "have been resolved" thus the situation is convenient for refugees' return.
Speaking at a news conference with his Spanish counterpart Jozep Borrel, Bassil said that those who returned were not subject to harassment or exposed to dangers.
Basil noted that rise of the right-wing political forces across Europe "reflects change of peoples' sentiments in Europe from welcoming the refugees to rejecting them."
Difficult conditions suffered by the refugees in Lebanon may prompt them to seek refuge either in Europe or Syria, and it "would be better if they go back to Syria," he added.
He reiterated rejection of the approach by the international powers of favoring support for the refugees in Lebanon and other countries neighboring Syria till a settlement is reached to the Syrian crisis.
These funds should be invested to secure their return to Syria, he said. (end)
