Colombia: 1 dies in devastating mudslide
(MENAFN) One woman has died in a late-night mudslide in central Colombia on Sunday that devastated at least 18 homes, according to local media.
Heavy downpours triggered the mudslide in La Palma, a town in central Cundinamarca department where flood waters have covered mostly one-story homes.
The leader of local risk management, German Ribero confirmed:"The mudslide was quite large".
Local residents revealed that they were awakened by what sounded like a thunderclap, followed by ground rattling.
